How it Works

The LouseBuster™ Treatment

The LouseBuster™ device delivers carefully controlled heated air directly to dry, clean, untangled hair at a temperature cooler than most hair-dryers and at a much higher flow rate. A unique single-use applicator tip, specially designed to penetrate beyond the top layer of hair, is used to lift the hair slightly while directing airflow right onto lice and their eggs. A timed treatment pattern is used to ensure that all areas of the head are treated. No pesticides or other chemicals are used, just heated air.

Based on clinical studies, greater than 99% of the eggs on people treated with the LouseBuster™ device were found dead following treatment. One single 30-minute LouseBuster™ treatment - followed by a thorough manual comb through and some simple follow-up combing - is usually all that is needed to kill head lice and their eggs. No oils, no mess, no follow-up treatments or appointments are required.

The LouseBuster™ device is relatively easy to use, but, to ensure that the treatment is delivered as safely and as effectively as possible, every LouseBuster™ device operator receives specialized training and passes a competency exam before they can be certified to operate the device.

Manual Removal

In some cases, the LouseBuster™ treatment is not an option. For children under four, those who have had recent radiation treatment, or people with cranial or facial implants, our extremely effective manual lice removal method will be used. We use the renowned Shepherd Method™ of manual lice removal, the most thorough approach available.

Before Your Appointment:

• Hair must be shampooed clean, and be dry and tangle-free.
• Entertainment for the client is helpful, such as a portable DVD player or a book.
• An electrical outlet will be needed to provide electricity for the LouseBuster™.
